Daniel was born in Great Falls, South Carolina in 1969. He married his wife Janet, and they have three boys Jamie, Jordan, and Jarrett. The family home is in the small town of Great Falls, SC.
Daniel began playing the guitar at the age of 13, and at that time his musical direction was Southern Rock & Roll and Country Blues. In 1987 he made a journey to the mountains of North Carloina for a festival in rememberance of Doc Watson's son Merle Watson. The sounds of Doc Watson was the reason for the journey, but Merlefest also showcased the best bluegrass bands and pickers around.
It wasn't until he turned 31 that he decided to give bluegrass a try. Daniel is one of the original members of Easy Pickin's. He loves the traditional bluegrass sounds that he heard in the mountains at Merlefest, and soon thereafter he too was playing songs from the bluegrass greats.
