Jimmy was born in Columbia, South Carolina in 1951, but moved to Fairfield County in the early 60's. He married his wife Peggy (Bass Player for Easy Pickin's) in 1974 and they have two children, Becky and Jai.
Jimmy began playing the guitar at the age of 32, and focused initially on country music until his love for bluegrass and gospel turned his head in the late 90's. Jimmy plays a Henderson guitar (the finest guitar in the land), but his distinct lead vocals make him the fan favorite at any gathering. Jimmy is one of the four original members of Easy Pickin's and helped to generate the great sound that is known today.
There Swearingen house is seeing a lot of action these days with two girls ruling the roost. Julia and Peyton are the grandaughters of Jimmy and Peggy. The Swearingen family home is in a small community called "Dark Corner". This area was dubbed that name because it was one of the last sections of the county to receive electricity.
